Assessment
GCSE French has a foundation tier and a higher tier. Pupils must take all four question papers at the same tier. All question papers must be taken in the same series.
- Speaking 25%
- Listening 25%
- Reading 25%
- Writing 25%
These are taught and assessed in the proportions shown, and a large part of the work in the classroom is conducted in the target language.
The resources used (textbooks, literature, films, CDs, internet websites etc.) are designed to develop the pupil’s ability to communicate effectively in French and promote an understanding of the everyday life and culture of another country and its people.
Pupils use ICT resources each week to work independently on their listening and speaking skills. These skills are further enhanced through weekly sessions with the French Assistant.
