An Unforgettable Cricket Adventure on the Dubai Tour

Hill House School’s 1st X1 Cricket Team embarked on an incredible tour to Dubai over the half-term break, where they experienced world-class training, exciting matches, and unforgettable excursions. The tour was a blend of intense sporting competition and cultural exploration, providing the boys with memories to last a lifetime.

The team had the privilege of training and competing at some of the most prestigious cricket facilities in the world. They honed their skills at the JA Academy, home to professional teams such as IPL’s Sunrisers Hyderabad and ILT’s Desert Vipers. Competing against top teams, they played against Dubai College, Ajman Academy at the renowned Ajman Ovals Cricket Ground, and faced Desert Vipers, Gforce, and IJC Academies at The Sevens Ground, a venue used by international teams for training and matches.

A highlight of the tour was experiencing day/night cricket under floodlights, a first for many players. Several players put in outstanding individual performances, including Head Boy Finnan Doody, who scored an impressive 81 runs, and Jacob Ellam, who delivered a strong performance with 54 runs.

Beyond the cricket field, the group had the chance to explore some of Dubai’s most famous attractions. They enjoyed a thrilling day at Atlantis Water Park, the world’s largest water park. An unforgettable adventure awaited them in the Arabian desert, where they experienced a desert safari. The visit to Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall, provided an exciting experience with breathtaking views of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, and the stunning Dubai Fountain show.

Another remarkable outing was to the Mall of Emirates, where they explored the world’s largest indoor ski slope. A relaxing morning at Kite Beach gave them the chance to unwind and enjoy a friendly game of beach cricket. Following a series of intense matches, they spent a morning by the pool to recover and recharge.

Throughout the tour, the pupils displayed great maturity and showed remarkable improvement as a team. The opportunity to train and compete at world-class venues against high-calibre opponents helped them develop both as players and individuals.
