Hill House Hockey is on a high as teams continue to excel!

Hill House Hockey is on a high this term as school teams continue to excel at a regional or national level!

First, the Under 14 girls were delighted to be placed in the top four in Yorkshire and the North East, after 3 gruelling rounds of tournaments including impressive victories over schools including Mount St.Mary’s and Tranby.

Then the Under 16 girls added to the success with a superb cup run in the National Cup, including a 7-0 win at Stonyhurst College, a 4-0 victory over St.Peter’s York, and a very competitive 2-0 win over Barnard Castle School. This brought the girls to the national quarter final and an away trip to Kings’ School, Chester; conceding a goal in the first minute, the girls rallied strongly to finish 5-1 winners. They now face Uppingham School in January in the national semi-finals, with a place in the final and the Olympic Stadium as the reward for the winner.

Meanwhile, not wanting to miss out on events, the U11 girls team claimed the South Yorkshire title last week, and the U13 girls hope to do the same at their tournament this week.

Director of Sport, Katie Vickers, is delighted with the success, saying "it is great to see the girls doing so well at so many ages; we are lucky to have such capable and committed girls and a team of outstanding coaches, making Hill House the school of choice for girls’ hockey in the area!"
