Record A Level Results!
Students at Hill House are celebrating this week as they receive record A Level results. Despite their A Level studies being disrupted by COVID, the school recorded its best ever results, with 30% of all A Levels gaining A* grades, 66% A*/A grades, and 54% of the entire year gaining at least 3 A grades. An incredible 97% of students have gained places at their first choice universities.
Top performers included Eve Nicholson, whose 4 A*s take her to Oxford to read Geography, along with Isabelle Clark and Alannah White, who have won places at Oxford for Law, and Psychology & Philosophy
Mollie Broadbent of Bessacarr and Eleanor Kidney of Misterton were both delighted with their 3 A*s, as was Balby’s Gemma Marsh with 3 A*s and 1A, while Arron Willis was very pleased with his 3A*s and a B.
Head Girl Fiona Bruce heads to Newcastle to study Psychology with A*A*A, while Head Boy Matthew Fulton moves on to study International Business at Northumbria with ABC. Theatre star Oliver Barker will now attend Drama School, delighted with his ABBC, while Lucas Martin will pursue his golfing career in Portugal safe in the knowledge that he has ABC in his A Levels.
Headmaster David Holland was delighted with the results, saying:
‘These pupils did very well at GCSE, so we were always expecting great things from them. There will doubtless be talk nationally of grade inflation due to teacher assessed grades, but these pupils earned their grades through massive amounts of hard work both by them and their teachers.
We kept our full timetable working online throughout the various periods of lockdown, and staff and pupils worked very hard to keep their momentum. These results are a vindication of that approach and a very well-deserved result for all the hard work in such trying times. We have nothing but praise and admiration for their ability and their resilience and are delighted to see them now head off to the best universities and most challenging courses in the country.’
